The Board regulates Real Estate Appraisers and Appraisal Management Companies that have qualified for certification and licensure according to the requirements of the Board statute and regulations. The Board may issue temporary practice permits for qualified appraisers. The Board may investigate initial complaints and may conduct licensing hearings and disciplinary hearings as required by statute and regulation.

The Division is responsible for the licensing, supervision, and examination of: consumer finance companies; deferred presentment; check-cashing companies; and mortgage lender/servicer companies, branches, and their loan originators.
The Division charters, supervises, examines and otherwise regulates State depository financial institutions within its jurisdiction, including banks, savings banks, savings and loan associations, trust companies and credit unions. It determines compliance with the laws and regulations of the State of South Carolina and monitors the operations of these institutions to ensure that best practices are maintained.
The Commission regulates Real Estate Brokers, Salesperson and Property Managers and administers the registration of timeshare projects and out-of-state subdivided land sales being marketed in the State of South Carolina. The Commission can take disciplinary action against a licensee only if there are facts which support a charge resulting in the finding of a violation(s) of the S.C. Real Estate License Law.
The Attorney General does not have jurisdiction over many areas of the law, including family court matters, probate matters, private disputes or private litigation. The office, by law, can only provide legal advice and opinions to public officials.
