The Real Estate Appraisers Board within the Department licenses and regulates real estate appraisers and appraisal management companies in New Mexico. It is illegal in New Mexico to appraise without a license issued by the Board. The Board receives and investigates complaints filed by members of the public against real estate appraisers and holds disciplinary hearings when necessary.

The Advocacy and Intervention Division handles complaints between consumers and businesses. When a consumer contacts a business but is unable to resolve a dispute, the Division's complaint resolution services may be available.
The mission of the Commission is to protect the public and enhance the professional competence of real estate brokers. The Commission's primary responsibilities include: issuance, renewal, and transfer of real estate broker's licenses; investigation and adjudication of consumer and real estate broker complaints about potential and actual violations of the Real Estate License Law and Commission Rules; and establishment and enforcement of real estate broker pre-licensing and continuing education requirements.
