The Division serves, safeguards, and promotes the public welfare by ensuring that qualifications and standards for licensed real estate related professions are property evaluated, uniformly applied, and systematically enforced.
The Division accepts consumer reports for the following regulated entities: residential mortgage licensees, loan originators, State-chartered savings and loans associations, State-chartered savings banks, trust companies, sellers or distributors of checks, pawnbrokers, and automated teller machines owned by non-financial institutions.
The mission of the Bureau of Residential Finance within the Division of Banking is to fairly administer the Residential Mortgage License Act of 1987 and the regulations promulgated thereunder. The Bureau regulates residential mortgage companies and mortgage loan originators.
The Bureau protects Illinois consumers and businesses victimized by fraud, deception, and unfair business practices.
